The Steampunk Imperial Navy Dirigible Yeomanry (SINDY) are the Light Cavalry of the air. They are the Imperial Navy's fast patrol, reconnaissance, and escort specialists. They protect the mercantile trade routes across the sea and air lanes, escorting essential commodities and exotic goods between nations and colonies.
Equipped with small, fast dirigibles and submersibles the SINDY crews consider themselves to be dashing Hussars and Lancers of the sea and air. Their uniforms add to this impression, being smartly tailored navy blue frock coats, skin-tight leather riding breeches, and long cavalry boots. Formal wear is completed with a co-ordinatingTop Hat, though whilst on patrol uniform variations are common, matched to the conditions and practicality of the task in hand.
Adornment is unfussy, featuring nauticalia in gold, copper, or bronze. Leather detailing and equipment is expertly crafted. Goggles feature the favoured blue lens to promote good eyesight at sea and in the air.
Known universally as Sindys, the officers and crews of the Steampunk Imperial Dirigible Navy are a handsome bunch, adding class, style and panache to any occasion. They are welcome almost everywhere except at an Airship Pirates wedding.
